Phil Storr - Historical Radio Society Australia - S.A. Branch.
Kevin (left) and Phil (right) finally get to meet face to face.
On Saturday the 4th of June 2011 I had the pleasure of a visit from Phil Storr and his lovely wife Pat, over from Adelaide on holidays. Phil is a like-minded soul and by the time he had left I had another 28 Gigs of information to upload to this site (thanks Phil, I'll do my best!!) From talking to Phil it was easy to see that there are a large number of guys interested in old radios, restoration, repairs etc. spread across this great country. Although email and telephone is the easy and cheap way to communicate it is still a pleasure to have a yak face to face. Phil, Pat, I hope you enjoyed your short stay in the West and you are welcome back anytime.
During a flying trip east in late September to take in the 2014 Radio Fest in Canberra I did a quick detour through Moss Vale to catch up with a mate of mine. This picture shows myself (left) and Mervyn Moore (the good looking rooster on the right) talking about old radios and the quirks of restoring them. I had the chance to check out Merve's great workshop and compare notes on the merits of certain types of test gear.
Thanks again Merve for the hospitality, we must catch up again soon.
In late September 2015 I had the genuine pleasure of enjoying a coffee and a chat with Rodney Champness (R.I.P.) and his wonderful wife Lyn. Although we only had an hour or two I reckon we managed to sort out most of the world's problems. Rest in peace my friend.
